Therapy is a great place to be selfish...
I became a Therapist because I genuinely love hearing about peoples lives. Listening is one of the most important aspects, in addition to creating a non-judgmental safe environment for individuals, couples, families, to let their "hair down" so to speak. I have spent the last 10 years working with anxiety, depression, panic, life transitions (death, divorce, stage of life, etc.), work stress, familial discord (including parent disappointment and disconnect, regardless of age), self-worth and self-love deficiencies, what the heck am I doing with my life questions. At the end of the day, I believe most of us want to experience peace.
In practice, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to examine the internal story we are telling ourselves that ultimately shows in our behaviors/actions. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy allows us to emotionally regulate & learn distress tolerance. EMDR can help move traumatic memories & negative beliefs from a stuck state to an integrated and adaptive state.
I believe making the first call and walking through the door is the hardest part. There is a reason you are looking through Psychology Today pages. There is a need or want that you desire to explore. Make one hour about you. I look forward to the opportunity to help you along your journey and be one part of your story.
